When to See an Advisor

Your grade drops below 78%

The minimum passing grade in all nursing courses is a C (78%). See an advisor immediately - remediation options are available.

You’re missing class or clinical shifts

Attendance below 80% risks course failure. An advisor can help you understand your standing and create a plan.

A personal or family situation affects your studies

HPI advisors can connect you with leave of absence options, community resources, or referrals. You don't have to manage alone.

You’re approaching Semester III and preparing for NCLEX

Advisors coordinate with the Director of Nursing to review your readiness and connect you with the right preparation resources.

You have questions about financial aid or billing

Student Services is the first point of contact for billing questions and can transfer you directly to the Financial Aid Director.
Career Services

From Graduation to
Your First LPN Position

HPI measures its success by where graduates work - and our Career Services team takes that seriously. We connect graduates with Columbus-area employers, provide job-search tools, and guide every student through the NCLEX and licensure process.

Resume Writing & Review

Individual resume reviews with the Career Services advisor. We know what Columbus healthcare hiring managers want to see - and we'll make sure your resume shows it.

Interview Preparation & Coaching

Mock interviews with real feedback. We cover healthcare-specific interview questions, professional presentation, and how to handle common hiring scenarios for new LPN grads.

Employer Connections & Job Leads

HPI maintains relationships with Columbus-area healthcare employers - hospitals, SNFs, home health agencies, and physician offices - and shares current openings with graduating students.

NCLEX & Licensure Application Guidance

Step-by-step guidance through the Ohio Board of Nursing application, Pearson VUE registration, and ATT process. We guide every graduate from graduation day to license issuance.

Student Policies

Your Rights & HPI’s Standards

All policies are detailed in the HPI School Catalog and Student Handbook. The summaries below are for quick reference - the official documents govern all policy questions.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and 67% completion rate. SAP is evaluated each semester. Students not meeting SAP are placed on academic warning. Failure to improve by the next evaluation results in suspension of financial aid.

Attendance Policy

Minimum 80% attendance required in all didactic, lab, and clinical components. Students must notify HPI and clinical sites of absences before the scheduled start time. Absences beyond the threshold may result in course failure regardless of grades.

Professional Conduct Standards

Students must adhere to HPI's Professional Conduct Standards and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Violations including dishonesty, substance use, or unsafe patient care are grounds for immediate dismissal with no grade adjustment.

Grievance Procedure

Students with academic or administrative grievances must first seek resolution with the instructor, then the Director of Education, then the School Director. Unresolved matters may be escalated to ABHES or SBCCS. All appeals must be submitted in writing within 10 business days.

FERPA - Student Privacy Rights

Under FERPA, students have the right to inspect their education records, request corrections to inaccurate records, and control disclosure of their records to third parties. HPI does not release education records without written student consent except as permitted by law.

ADA & Non-Discrimination

HPI is committed to providing equal access to all students regardless of disability, race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or veteran status. Students requesting disability accommodations should contact Student Services to initiate the accommodation review process.
FAQ

Student Services Questions

Common questions from enrolled and prospective HPI students about student support services.

Academic advising appointments can be scheduled through Populi (go to "Student Services" then "Appointments") or by contacting the Student Services office directly at (614) 000-0000 or studentservices@ohiohpi.edu. Walk-in advising is available Monday–Friday during office hours, though wait times may vary. Scheduled appointments are guaranteed a full 45–60 minutes.

A grade below 78% (C) in any nursing course requires the student to repeat that course before progressing in the program. HPI's Student Services team will contact you immediately to schedule an advising session and create a remediation plan. You will also be placed on academic warning status, which triggers a mandatory advising meeting and may require tutoring participation. The earlier you reach out, the more options we have to support you - do not wait until final grades are posted.

Yes. Students may request a Leave of Absence (LOA) of up to 180 days for qualifying extenuating circumstances including medical issues, family emergencies, military service, and other documented hardships. LOA requests must be submitted in writing to the Director of Education with supporting documentation. An approved LOA preserves your enrollment status and your place in the program. Contact Student Services as soon as possible - the sooner we know, the more we can do. Download the LOA request form from the Resources section above.

Log in at ohiohpi.populiweb.com using the credentials provided at orientation. Your dashboard will show your current courses, upcoming schedule, recent grades, and financial account balance. Navigate to "Academics" → "Courses" to view all course details, grades, and materials. If you've lost your login credentials, contact studentservices@ohiohpi.edu with your full name and date of birth to verify your identity and reset access.

HPI's grievance process begins with the instructor involved in the disputed matter. If not resolved at that level, the complaint escalates to the Director of Education, then the School Director. All formal grievances must be submitted in writing using the Student Grievance Form (available in Resources above) within 10 business days of the disputed event. If the matter is not resolved internally, students may escalate to ABHES (accrediting body) or the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (SBCCS). Contact information for both agencies is provided in the HPI School Catalog.
